| In last night's preview, I described contralto Maureen Forrester (1930-2010) as "one of the least replaceable singers" I've heard. Looking back, it's surprising how close she was to being taken for granted. Tonight we hear her glorious singing Handel and Bach, as a reminder of her invaluable contribution to the surge of interest in baroque music. |
